LEGO kits for the 1975 Ferrari F1 car, 1988 McLaren F1 car, and 1966 Lotus F1 car. Someone has taken the time to design and build all three of these cars, they just need votes/support to prove to LEGO that people would, in fact, buy them. In order to vote for the cars (showing support for the idea so LEGO might potentially make it), you have to set up an account (takes like 2 minutes tops, and you don't have to pay). It's really easy to vote, and the kits look totally badass. Go vote for these, because I desperately want them.

Tell your friends to vote, too. The Lotus has 1000+ votes already, but the McLaren and Ferrari are kind of falling behind! LEGO ALL THE F1 THINGS!

all three of them are pretty awesome!

Pretty sure that's a Tyrrel P34 in the background. I want that in LEGO more than anything else.

I looked around to see if it was being proposed and up for support, but couldn't find it anywhere.

Yeah...I'll happily build a Lotus and then swap in a DFV. No BRM horsecrap.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 12:34 |

I wonder what kind of licensing fees Lego would have to pay Lotus, Ferrari and McLaren to make this happen.

Love the Lotus 49 Gold Leaf livery (a la Jochen Rindt) but can I please have a Lotus 72 John Player Special?

I'm not sure of they still do or not, but they used to make Ferrari stuff all the time, I've got some of the kits from few years back.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 12:48 |

did not know about that one, I haven't seen all the pics for it until just now! I don't see it on the Lego Ideas website, so it doesn't look like we can vote for it. Hopefully it'll pop up soon, that looks amazing!

Yeah, my brother and I had some of the Ferrari Technic sets. I know Ferrari in particular makes more money off merchandising than actually selling cars, so it's probably expensive to pay to use their name on anything.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 12:58 |

What? No Lotus 79?
![]() 06/20/2014 at 13:00 |

follow the links at the bottom... it should take you to a page to support the model proposition
![]() 06/20/2014 at 13:03 |

Maybe, but I remember they always had numerous Ferrari sets out at once, and most of them were priced pretty high, so I'm sure with all the sales they made, they managed to at least break even.

When I saw the thumbnail at first I thought they might have been life sized.
And my thought was... "these things are going to cost as much as a real F1 car."

Oh really, what tipped you off, the FOUR FRONT WHEELS MAYBE? Ha sorry couldn't resist :)

Someone will have to nudge the creator to do so.

I also really like Rindt's Lotus 72C:

Or Villeneuve's Ferrari 126C2:

Good question, because that could kill it even if they gather enough support. LEGO says they are willing to pay licensing for ideas.lego projects, as long as they feel it will be profitable.
Someone else here pointed out the Tyrell P34, and that is probably much harder to realise. As Tyrell Racing no longer exists.

Instructions to all the cars can be bought from him for $15, only have to look for the bricks yourself then, but he provides some sort of file for those 'buy Lego bricks' websites.

The MP4-4, Lotus 79 and P34 are flipping awesome.

Ferrari and LEGO must have had a deal for a while because there were a number of Ferrari sets, but now they're gone. The Technic F1 that I built is clearly a generic design, for all that it's got a lot of great details.
I would *love* to see LEGO tackle an F1 Historics lineup.

I'm astounded that the Tyrell wasn't the feature image on this article.

This one deserves some votes, too.

Ah. It's not available on the Lego voting site. That's why.

I've had this as a desktop image for a long time. Would not mind owning a kit of it:

It's not on the LEGO Ideas website as a project that you can vote for/support.

Do they have the plans for these available on the internet at all?
![]() 06/20/2014 at 14:05 |

There's a sweet Lego Technic Racer available now: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Racer-42…

Signed up and supported all of them, even though LEGO actually producing these would be seriously detrimental to my wallet.
Here's another one that I thought was pretty awesome:

So much want! I want ALL of them The Andretti Lotus in the back, the Brabham, the Tyrell - dang it Lego - make this happen.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 14:15 |

So you can build these if you want. The guy published the plans for all of these on mocplans.com . Think the plans cost $15, but you have to source the parts. I purchased the plans for the tyrrell. And have been sourcing parts for the last few months. Keep in mind its like $300 worth of parts for most of these.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 14:16 |
|
I would buy all of these.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 14:18 |

Yes, Mocplans.com. Cost of parts for each of these models is around $300

very nice builds... brb. splurging on lego race cars
![]() 06/20/2014 at 14:36 |
|
wow, good luck on that build! I feel like if they were to make these actual sets, the cost would be less. I think that when you buy each part seperately, it's going to cost substantially more.

Lego f1 game?
![]() 06/20/2014 at 15:15 |
|
Agree, it would be cheaper probably $100-200 based on the number of pieces. But these will never be an official set. These have been in the lego community for over 2 years i believe. Licensing would be hard as well.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 15:17 |

It may not be the f1 cars you showed but this is hilarious.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 15:18 |

I would pay money for one of those

Seen all of them before, WTF1 is awesome.
![]() 06/20/2014 at 15:50 |
|
I managed to convince the builder to share the CAD file for this car with me. I built it, but it cost me over $400 in parts to finish it. Be careful what you wish for.

Are these minifig scale?
![]() 06/20/2014 at 16:17 |
|
Even if they get the 10k supporters each (which i do sincerely hope), i see a small problem: they have to be reviewed by LEGO to see if production is feasible, and i think all the brands they'd have to license (Ferrari/Shell/Lotus/Honda/Goodyear/etc.) could make them reject this awesome idea...

No words to describe it. Only an animated gif.
